of the switch to a single band as opposed to two bands of equal ability.

Motion by Jared Throneberry, seconded by Sandy Atkins, to switch to a
single Middle School Honors Band as opposed to two bands of equal ability for
the 2008-2009 school year. Motion failed.
Committee to discuss
the future of the Middle School Honors Band was formed. Members will be: Sandy
Atkins, Kevin Culling, Patty Floeter, Joe McInchak, Aaron Mykelloff &
Jamie Mykelloff.

committee to decide on the new composition. No committee was formed at this
time.

OLD BUSINESS
Scholarships: Stacie Detgen spoke to the idea of offering college scholarships
to deserving District 8 students. There was past discussion on this idea and it
did not go anywhere. There will be more discussion, and there may be a proposal
at the Winter meeting.
Open Classification: The question was
asked if any information was compiled regarding how many schools participated in
the MSBOA state-wide Open Classification Pilot Program.
Calendar: There was
discussion of the approved Calendar
and conflicts of the Middle School Band Festival and the MSVMA Middle School
Choir Festival.
NEW BUSINESS
No new business
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Stacie Detgen mentioned that she had Percussion Works USA come out and
work on her percussion equipment, she recommended them to our members.
Kellie McInchak informed the membership that Paul Bickel was
married this summer.
Beth Bousfield invited HS Directors to participate in the Ingham
County Parade.
Jane Church plugged
the Grand Ledge Marching Band Invitational.
